For most of her carer Clare has worked in the aged and community services sector as an employee relations adviser. Her work includes representation for clients is matters such as assistance with disciplinary and termination of employment issues, roster changes, disputes with unions, rostering disputes, award/EBA interpretations, EBA and entitlement audits, and enterprise agreement negotiations. The skills Clare has acquired over the years and which she applies, include negotiation, investigation, assessment and resolution of issues in order to lessen the chance the matter will proceed to a tribunal or court. Clare works closely with clients and ensures she always responds to emails and telephone calls in a timely manner. Clare has dealt with voluntary boards of management, individual operators, multi sited operations and providers in charitable and for profit operators, and appreciates the differences that the wise spectrum of services presents. Clare is able to deal with a variety of philosophies and the challenges these can present. Clare is also available to hold workshops and training on site for clients in employee related issues.
Up until the 1st July 2018, Michael had been practising as a barrister and solicitor representing clients in a range of employee relations issues for over forty years. For the last thirty years Michael has practiced predominantly in the aged, community services and health service sectors. While Michael is no longer practicing as a solicitor, his experience as such is invaluable to clients now he is working as an Employee Relations Adviser. Michael has worked in many different sectors prior to that, including local government, the oil companies and the Australian Ballet. Michael works in conjunction with Clare Dewan and Associates and represents clients in various tribunals including the Fair Work Commission and the Equal Opportunity Commission.Matters such as unfair dismissal arbitrations and equal opportunity claims can be dealt with by Michael. Michael is also able to provide contracts of employment for senior executives and to review current contracts.
Janis is a HR specialist who has a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management, a Graduate Diploma of Human Resources, a Diploma in OH&S, a Certificate IV in Training, Assessment and Education (40116) and a Certificate III in Investigative Services. Janis is a trained Mediator. Janis has worked in the health and aged care sectors for most of her career, with her most recent position being the Director of People and Performance at a large not for profit aged care organisation. Janis is a member of the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) and the Australian Institute of Health & Safety (AIHS). Janis has been an active member of various industry advisor committees and does appreciate and understand the issues facing aged care employers. Janis is now working as a Human Resources Consultant across the aged and community services sector. Janis has expertise in all aspects of HR, including roster reviews, training, OH&S audits/ risk assessments, policy reviews and WorkCover claims management.
